Javier Robalino Orellana co-chairs the arbitration practice and acts as managing partner for Ecuador. Mr Robalino represents many multinationals in investment planning, investment disputes and cross-border matters. He also advises multinationals on oil, energy and infrastructure projects. He has been appointed as international arbitrator and has represented several investors in investment and commercial disputes under ICSID, UNICTRAL, CIAC and ICC procedures.
Graduated as attorney from the Catholic University of Quito and received an LLM from Duke University School of Law. Former foreign associate with King & Spalding. Professor of administrative and international law and coordinator of the graduate programme at Universidad San Francisco de Quito, of the business law LLM at Instituto de Derecho y Empresa INIDEM, and visiting professor in the Graduate Energy Programme at Universidad Carlos III in Madrid, Seoul University, La Habana University, FIAA, La Coruña University, etc.
He is a former director of the Quito Chamber of Industry, member of the regulatory streamlining committee of the Office of the President of Ecuador, and chief of staff to the president of the Supreme Court of Ecuador. Member of IBA, IFA, ALArb, Southwestern Institute for International and Comparative Law, FIDA, ABA and Club Español de Arbitraje. GAR's "45 under 45". Speaks Spanish and English.
