His professional practice includes tax, customs and corporate-commercial. Also has experience in the legislative process of formation of the tax laws.
He is recognised as one of the main academics and practitioners of tax law in Nicaragua with a deep knowledge of general tax legislation, that has allowed him to successfully advice in investments, tax regimes and tax benefits in force and represent both national and foreign companies before the Tax Administration and Custom Office and Supreme Court of Nicaragua.
Melvin has held important public positions such as Director of the Legal Tax Department and former Deputy Director of the Tax Administration in Nicaragua (DGI), Director of Registration and Control of Associations of the Ministry of Government (MIGOB).
Graduated from Universidad Centroamericana, Nicaragua, 1998.
