Ximena Tercero was appointed partner in January 2016, and leads the office’s tax department. She has experience in corporate and commercial law, having advised various business groups in Guatemala in relation to its structure and acquisition. She has worked with intellectual property related transactions, trusts and atypical contracts and has participated in projects related to the electricity sector and information law. She has handled mergers and acquisitions and cases related to energy and information law among others.
She obtained her bachelor’s degree from University Rafael Landívar in Guatemala, from where she graduated with honours (cum laude). She holds a postgraduate degree in commercial law from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana de Bogotá, Colombia, a postgraduate degree in corporate and tax law from Universidad del Istmo and has studies in administrative engineering from Universidad Rafael Landívar in Guatemala. She is also a university professor at Universidad del Itsmo de Guatemala on tax law.
