Fernando Aguirre was born in La Paz, Bolivia, in 1943. He was educated at the State University of La Paz (licentiate in law, political and social sciences and law degree, 1968) and at Oxford University (diploma in law, 1971).
Fernando is senior partner of the firm and has been secretary general of the Presidency of the Republic; director of the Bolivian Central Bank; president of the American Chamber of Commerce of Bolivia; professor of international law at the Diplomatic Academy of Bolivia; professor of ADR and arbitration on a master’s degree programme at the Catholic University. Registered arbitrator at the Arbitration Centres of the National Chamber of Commerce of Bolivia and the Kuala Lumpur Regional Arbitration Centre. Member of the La Paz, Santa Cruz and American & International Bar Associations. Currently chairman of the board of directors of the Bolivian Coca-Cola bottling company. He actively participates in international business law conferences, at a number of which he has been an active panellist, presenting various papers on Bolivian law issues. He has contributed to specialist legal publications.
He speaks Spanish, English and French.
