Paula is a criminal law attorney with more than 20 years of practising experience. She holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo in 2001, where she served as a volunteer teaching assistant in Criminal Law lectures. She holds a Graduate School degree in white-collar crime from Fundação Getúlio Vargas Law School – FGVLaw and concluded the postgraduate programme in Economic and EU criminal law at the University of Coimbra, in partnership with the Brazilian Institute of Criminal Sciences in 2005. Paula also attended the LLM in capital and financial markets law from IBMEC São Paulo (now Insper). She is a counsellor to the Brazilian Movement for the Defence of the Legal Profession since it was founded, where she has served as Vice-Chair of the Criminal Affairs Commission in 2010 and 2011. Fluent in English, since 2017 Paula has participated in the annual discussion meetings of the Global Forum on Corporate Criminal Liability, organised annually in Europe by Cambridge Forums, having become a member of the Steering Committee and panellist of the event in 2019.
