Alexandre Bittencourt Calmon is an internationally recognised energy law expert, he specialises in oil and gas and mining, with a significant experience in M&A and regulatory matters. His expertise includes assistance in typical operations within the oil and gas industry, such as farm-in, farm-outs, purchase and sale of oil contracts, structuring of consortia or upstream joint venture companies, as well as midstream-related projects, including gas and ethanol transportation and supply. He was formerly a partner at Vieira Rezende, and in the natural resources group of one of the major Brazilian law firms in South America.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in law from University Cândido Mendes and attended supplementary courses in corporate law and capital markets from Fundação Getúlio Vargas and in the US Legal System from George Washington University (Washington, DC). He actively participates in many international organisations, such as International Bar Association – Section on energy, environment, natural resources and infrastructure law; the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators; the Rocky Mountain Mineral Foundation; and the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada.
