Hugo has focused his practice on international business transactions. His extensive corporate background comprises foreign investment, M&A, banking and finance and corporate law.

Mr Cuesta has acted as lead Mexican counsel in several international projects and business transactions, advising multinationals and leading foreign entities on their legal, corporate and finance structure in Mexico, as well as in public bidding processes with the Mexican government.

He is vice chair and board member of Meritas Law Firms Worldwide, member of the NYSBA and of the IBA, former vice chair of the American Chamber of Commerce in Mexico. He is also member of the board of various multinationals, foundations and non-profit organisations.

Hugo coordinated the Investment Chapter table of the advisers’ room of the NAFTA negotiations. He has been interviewed by leading business and politics publications, including Forbes US, Forbes Japan, Foreign Policy, Mexico Business Publishing, to provide his perspective on the Mexican economy and trends on the business and legal services.
