María Isabel's practice areas include international business transactions ranging from mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, international financings and corporate structures involving various jurisdictions.
She also has extensive experience in negotiating shareholders agreements for local and international investors, including topics that require being adapted to Guatemalan law, such as decision-making thresholds, change of control provisions, minority shareholders rights, veto power, drag and tag-along rights, and purchase options. Maria Isabel has also served for more than a decade as member of the board of directors of multiple corporations.
Additionally she participates, pro bono, in institutions that promote de development of Guatemala and the enhancement of its justice system, and is part of the Aspen Global Leadership Network of the Aspen Institute.
