José Guardo is the head of Clifford Chance's banking and finance in Spain. He specialises in energy and infrastructure projects in Spain, Latin America and worldwide. Over the past 15 years, José has been involved in a large number of renewable transactions advising both lenders and sponsors. He was the first Spanish lawyer to receive the Chambers Outstanding Contribution to the Legal Profession award, and is also listed as a Leading Lawyer by IFLR1000 for banking, project finance and restructuring and insolvency in Spain, and as a Leading Lawyer by The Legal 500 EMEA for banking and finance and projects and energy in Spain.
José's experience includes advising Zuma Energy on the negotiations of the project contracts for the construction of the Reynosa windfarm with more than 400MW; Altán Redes in the US$1.5 billion financing for the construction of the largest telecommunications network in Mexico – Red Compartida; and Fideicomiso Financiero Fondo de Deuda para Infraestructura en Uruguay CAF I on the financing of the construction of Routes 21 and 24 in Uruguay.
