José Guardo is Head of Banking & Finance at Clifford Chance in Spain. He has particular expertise in structured finance and energy and infrastructure projects. He was the first Spanish lawyer to receive the Chambers Outstanding Contribution to the Legal Profession award, and is also listed as a Leading Lawyer by IFLR1000 for Restructuring and Insolvency, Banking and Project Finance in Spain, and as a Leading Lawyer by Legal 500 EMEA for Banking & Finance and Projects & Energy in Spain.

José's experience includes advising Banco Santander, BBVA and Société Générale on the financing of the design and construction of a new National Cancer Institute in Panama; Crédit Agricole on financing the construction of a wind farm in Uruguay; and CESCE, SACE, ONDD (the Spanish, Italian and Belgian export credit agencies) on the financing for the construction of the third set of locks of the Panama Canal.
