José Guardo is the head of Clifford Chance's banking and finance practice in Spain. He has particular expertise in structured finance and energy and infrastructure projects. He was the first Spanish lawyer to receive the Chambers Outstanding Contribution to the Legal Profession award, and is also listed as a Leading Lawyer by IFLR1000 for restructuring and insolvency, banking and project finance in Spain, and as a Leading Lawyer by The Legal 500 EMEA for banking and finance and projects and energy in Spain.

José's experience includes advising Altán Redes in the US$1.5 billion financing for the construction of the largest telecommunications network in Mexico – Red Compartida; Zuma Energy on the negotiations of the project contracts for the construction of the Reynosa windfarm in Mexico with more than 400MWs; and Fideicomiso Financiero Fondo de Deuda para Infraestructura en Uruguay CAF I on the financing of the construction of Routes 21 and 24 in Uruguay.
