Javier Ybáñez is the partner in charge of the Latin American practice. He coordinated the corporate department at Garrigues until he moved to Latin America, in order to lead the expansion within this region. He has a law degree from CEU University San Pablo. He has spent his entire professional career at Garrigues. He specialises in corporate and commercial law, capital markets, financing transactions and mergers & acquisitions.
He has acted as legal adviser on an array of major projects in various jurisdictions and was considered one of the most prestigious lawyers in Spain by top international legal directories (Chambers Global, Chambers Europe, Best Lawyers and PLC Which Lawyer?).
He has taught the master’s in legal advisory services at the Universidad Pontificia de Comillas in Madrid, the master’s degree in legal advisory services at the Universidad CEU San Pablo, the executive master’s degree in corporate finance at Centro de Estudios Garrigues, and the legal adviser to Listed Companies and Securitisations programmes organised by the Instituto de Empresa Law School.
