Mauricio Salas is a partner at BLP. He provides legal advice in international trade, environmental and foreign investment law, together with related corporate disciplines. He serves as a consultant to private sector and academic entities on international financial and trade law. Additionally, he has rendered general corporate counselling to foreign-owned industries, and has represented them in litigation before national courts. Mauricio Salas has been a professor of international trade and of dispute settlement in international trade at the University of Costa Rica. He has also served as research assistant to Professor John H Jackson, at the Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, DC. During 1999, Mr Salas trained at the appellate body secretariat of the World Trade Organization in Geneva. The International Financial Law Review, Chambers and Partners and Latin Lawyer consider him to be one of the leading lawyers in Costa Rica. He has postgraduate studies in environmental management, and holds law degrees from the University of Costa Rica and from the Georgetown University Law Center (LLM, with honours). He is fluent in English and Spanish.
