Luis M Castro is a founding partner of BLP and head of the firm’s real estate practice and energy practice. He focuses on real estate, corporate law, and development and financing of energy projects. He is experienced in the legal aspects of large real estate developments. He has also worked on the structuring of mortgage finance programmes and mortgage securitisation. He has represented project sponsors and developers, as well as multilateral agencies, in connection with energy projects, oil pipelines and toll road projects. He was an associate and partner at KPMG Abogados in Costa Rica from 1992 to 2003, when he founded BLP. He has been recognised as one of Costa Rica’s best and leading lawyers by Latin Lawyer, Chambers and Partners, IFLR1000 and The Legal 500, and has also been designated as leading corporate lawyer by The International Who’s Who of Business Lawyers. He graduated from the University of Costa Rica and holds an LLM from Georgetown University. He is currently the president of the Costa Rican chapter of YPO. He is a Fulbright scholar and fluent in English and Spanish.
