His practice focuses on cross-border corporate and financial transactions, with an emphasis on corporate finance, corporate and investment banking, mergers and acquisitions, large infrastructure projects, debt restructurings and other strategic transactions. He regularly advises all multilateral lending institutions active in the Ecuadorean market and private international financial institutions on financings and regulatory matters.
He has extensive knowledge of the banking sector, and particularly Latin American laws that impact on multi-jurisdictional banking. Before joining FERRERE, Jesús worked at Bank of America Merrill Lynch (BAML), where he was general counsel for Latin America and the Caribbean, excluding Mexico and Brazil (the EBRAMEX region), and senior counsel for Corporate and Investment Banking in Latin America. Prior to joining BAML, Jesús worked at Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP, based in New York City and Rome, Italy. Jesús obtained his law degree (juris doctor), with honours, from Cornell Law School, where he served as articles editor of the Cornell Law Review. Member of the Bar in the State of New York, the American Bar Association and the New York City Bar Association. Speaks Spanish, English and Italian.
