Robert da Silva Ashley represents public and private corporate borrowers, financial institutions, project sponsors and companies, and debt investors in a range of sophisticated cross-border and domestic lending transactions, including project financings and developments, reserve-based and other asset-based financings, corporate recapitalisations, leveraged acquisitions, export credit agency financings, credit enhancements, distress debt acquisitions and debtor-in-possession financings, in the United States, Latin America, Europe and Asia. He has experience working on a broad range of credit facilities, including term, revolving, reserve-based, asset-backed, bridge, first-out, secured and unsecured, syndicated and single-lender, and senior and subordinated facilities. Representative industries in which Robert has negotiated and documented transactions include energy (renewables, oil and gas, and nuclear), transportation and infrastructure, banking and finance, real estate, diamond and luxury jewellery, automotive parts manufacturing, cosmetics, fashion and design, sports, telecommunications and human resource services.
Robert has particular experience representing financial institutions (as agents, lenders and underwriters), sponsors, developers and other investors with the structuring, negotiating and documenting of complex domestic and cross-border project financings on a non- and limited-recourse basis, and is regularly involved in a variety of client matters in Latin America. Recent transactions include carbon capture and sequestration projects, yieldco financing structures, distributed solar generation projects, wind farms, power plants, a uranium enrichment plant, oil and gas exploration and resource plays, toll roads and export credit agency financings.
