José Rafael graduated with highest honours from the National University of Honduras School of Law in 1994, joined the firm and was admitted to the Honduran Bar that same year. He holds graduate studies from the University of Chicago, the Law School (LLM, 2000), where he studied as a Fulbright scholar and specialised in economic analysis of law with a background in corporate finance. Mr Rivera is a notary public since 1999. His practice areas also include commercial law, insurance law, agency and distributorship, franchise law, trademarks, patents, copyright, antitrust, civil and commercial litigation, commercial arbitration and administrative law. Mr Rivera is a member of the board of directors of several Honduran companies. As a partner he has been a lead contact attorney for various local, multinational and foreign companies, banks and institutions regarding mainly foreign investment, financial, corporate and commercial law matters. He is a commercial arbitrator of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Tegucigalpa, Arbitration Center, where he has presided over arbitration tribunals.
