Alfonso Gutiérrez Cerdas is a partner at Consortium Legal – Costa Rica. He is an expert on litigation, arbitration and public law.

Along his career, he was Deputy Judge of the Fourth Chamber of the Supreme Court of Costa Rica and Deputy Magistrate of the First Chamber of the Supreme Court of Costa Rica. He participated in the Faculty of Law at the University of Costa Rica as a coordinator of the Graduate Studies Programme of Commercial Law and as professor of commercial law.

He has been a member of arbitral tribunals in the Arbitration Center of the American Chamber of Commerce and also in Arbitrations at the Chamber of Commerce of Costa Rica. He is founder member and president of the board of the Omar Dengo Foundation in Costa Rica; additionally, he has participated as a founder member of the Costa Rica–USA Foundation for Cooperation.
