The Honduran office of García & Bodán has a particularly noteworthy transactional offering. Having been active in several sovereign debt transactions, the firm has carved out a space for itself as a connoisseur in capital markets law, which nicely complements the firm’s corporate and M&A practice. Combined with its standalone banking and finance group, the firm has cultivated a solid reputation.
The firm has seen a sustained uptake in non-transactional mandates including tax, labour and technology law. The latter has also permitted the firm venture into the fintech sector. Clients in the aviation industry have also recently turned here for advice.
Following the opening in Costa Rica in recent years, which marked the firm’s sweep of Central America, the leadership’s strategy is now to consolidate operations across the region. Centralising management and administration is a core element of this strategy, and as such, the firm has implemented regional administration, business development and accounting teams.
García & Bodán has also streamlined documentation, billing and accounting software across all offices and the upgraded communications system allows the firm to update clients concerning renewals of permits, licences and regulations.
The firm’s client-focused approach has clearly paid off, with its popularity among companies speaking for itself. Clients have praised the firm’s expertise, the availability of lawyers and their swift response time. According to a study, Who Represents Latin America’s Biggest Companies, published by the Latin American Corporate Counsel Association (LACCA), which is affiliated to Latin Lawyer, García & Bodán in Central America represents seven of Latin America’s 100 biggest companies.
