Clifford Chance is known for successful, novel deal structures and for our award-winning ability to drive innovation across Latin America. For decades, the firm has advised clients on complex transactions, often at the forefront in the development of new markets. We are grateful that our clients trust us to help them find solutions in pursuing their goals in the region.

Our LatAm team comprises nearly 100 lawyers, including 10 top-ranked partners and senior lawyers, working from offices in the Americas, Europe and Asia. We are one of the largest international law firms in Brazil. Our multidisciplinary group includes lawyers at all levels of seniority who are fluent in Spanish and Portuguese and who bring a deep understanding of each country's distinct business, legal and regulatory landscapes. We also have long-standing relationships with a strong network of independent local firms to deliver seamless counsel throughout the region. Included in our practice is a specialised Latin America–China team that works with Chinese sponsors, banks and state-owned enterprises on strategic energy and infrastructure projects and corporate M&A matters throughout the region.

Our project finance lawyers have played a significant role in driving sustainable economic development in collaboration with governments, regional and international sponsors, investment and commercial banks, and development financial institutions. Uniquely, the team is adept at developing sophisticated, multisource financings, both through project finance and bond structures and securitisation schemes that involve a combination of commercial banks, multilateral lending agencies and the bond markets.

We consulted with Argentina's Ministry of Finance, and its newly created PPP unit on the design and implementation of the country's upcoming PPP programme, under the institutional umbrella of the Inter-American Investment Corporation and the Inter-American Development Bank. We have advised on the majority of Colombia's 4G transportation infrastructure financings, and on Paraguay's first PPP project with a novel financing structure.

Our corporate team regularly advises on complex, cross-border mergers and acquisitions, both inbound and outbound and for both international and Latin America-based corporates and financial investors. The team's approach to significant transactions reflects a commitment to innovation and longstanding engagement across regional markets.

Our capital markets group advises across sectors and borders on securities offerings by sovereign, quasi-sovereign and corporate issuers. The team's pioneering work includes advising on some of the first Mexican FIBRAs, on one of the first green bond offerings, and on a landmark social bond in LatAm.

Our litigation and dispute resolution team has prepared FCPA compliance programmes, including training, governance and implementation plans, and has designed tailored enterprise-wide risk assessments for multinationals. This team also advises clients on white-collar crime, US anti-money laundering, economic sanctions laws and regulations as they relate to LatAm. Our arbitration team handles complex international disputes and, in particular, international investment treaty and commercial arbitrations in the energy, infrastructure, oil and gas, and telecommunications industries.

Clifford Chance invests heavily in value-added services, including a Latin America Client Academy and numerous pro bono initiatives supporting Hispanic and Latin American communities and individuals.
