Cuatrecasas is an international law firm present in 12 countries. With a team of highly specialised lawyers, we advise clients on all areas of business law and industries, offering practical and innovative solutions tailor-made for their businesses. We work with a global approach through the best local teams. We have 27 offices in cities in Europe, America, Asia and Africa.
Our international strategy gives absolute priority to our clients’ interests and needs, ensuring our status as a benchmark law firm for advice on strategic transactions in Latin America. We achieve this by the growing internationalisation of our practice areas, by strengthening our country-specific groups, and selecting the most appropriate local firm for each case to form joint teams.
This model is based on institutional relationships with leading independent firms in the relevant jurisdictions. Following this idea, Cuatrecasas has strengthened and boosted its long-standing institutional relationships with some of the most prestigious law firms in several countries, and has implemented new initiatives and institutional policies that reinforce these relationships, particularly considering the region’s current market context.
We have a long track record in the Latin American market. We have offices in Mexico and Brazil and we maintain a strategic alliance in Colombia with Posse Herrera Ruiz, which enables us to have a team in Bogota that provides services in collaboration with lawyers from the Colombian firm. In Spain and Portugal, we also have country groups comprising lawyers with extensive experience in different jurisdictions including Argentina, the Caribbean, Central America, Chile and Peru.
We work in close collaboration with administrations and public entities in several Latin American countries, including economic councils and chambers of commerce.
Iberia is, for several reasons (cultural identity, network of tax and investment protection treaties, Latin American footprint of Iberian companies, etc), the best platform for channelling investment into Latin America and the best point of entry into Europe. This hub position is particularly important for our European network and for making the most of our international capabilities in our offices in New York, Shanghai, Beijing and Lusophone Africa.
Our presence in the region has enabled us to increasingly participate in cross-border transactions in the major financial sectors and to offer our clients the possibility of building teams to respond to the legal requirements that arise in each case, combining the highest quality practice with flexibility and efficiency.
Our clients in cross-border transactions are international or Iberian holdings investing in the region, or "multilatinas" expanding their business through the region and Europe. Our growing portfolio of clients and volume of transactions in the region is also supported by the increasing activity developed by our partners in the European network (French Gide, German Gleiss and Italian Chiomenti).
