Ecopetrol wins arbitration award in Colombia

Disproving the claim that Colombian arbitration always favours private companies, a local arbitration tribunal has ruled in favour of state oil company Ecopetrol and gas company Ecogas. The plaintiff was Gases de Boyacá y Santander SA (Promigas), and the dispute centred on the amendment of tax laws. The decision was given on August 20.
