Telefónica Brasil has agreed to pay a US$4.1 million penalty to settle charges brought by the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) that the company gave soccer tickets to government officials. The officials it gave gifts to had the power to help steer business to Telefónica, the SEC said.
