LACCA returns to Hotel Unique in São Paulo on 9 May for a day of interactive discussions on the most important topics facing in-house lawyers in Brazil and across Latin America. Read on to view the full programme and for details on how to register.
The event will bring together over 150 leading in-house lawyers and external practitioners, who will tackle the Brazilian tax reform, technology and the evolving challenges of ESG over the course of five panels.
Pinheiro Neto Advogados and Docket Navigator are gold sponsors. There will also be a networking breakfast and lunch, sponsored by Greenberg Traurig LLP and Demarest Advogados, respectively. Lexology is serving as supporting organisation.
We will announce the first speakers in the coming weeks.
After breakfast, the day will begin with panellists exploring how crisis management teams can identify potential risks and engage communications teams when conducting damage control. They will also analyse the increasing role of technology in legal departments and how it can support crisis management strategies.
The next panel will look at Brazil’s evolving tax landscape now that the dust has settled following the approval of the reform in December. GCs will explain how to endure the lengthy period of transition between the old and new tax regimes without overloading their teams and overspending on external support.
In the third panel of the day, speakers will examine the current state of play of ESG for Brazilian companies. Discussions will shine a light on governance – often regarded as the underdog of ESG – as well as best practices when it comes to environmental reporting.
Following a networking lunch, panellists will tackle an evergreen topic for in-house: M&A. With record M&A levels predicted for 2024, participants will discuss the current challenges and opportunities that face in-house in the dealmaking process – from merger control to due diligence and AI.
The conversation will turn to compliance for the final panel of the day, with speakers giving their thoughts on the impact of Brazil’s new data privacy and equal pay laws. They will also home in on ways to achieve strong collaboration between compliance and legal teams.
Attendees are invited to a drinks reception at the venue once the event has concluded.
Later that evening, Latin Lawyer, which is affiliated to LACCA, will host its annual awards ceremony. LACCA will present two awards at the event, General Counsel of the Year and Regional Team of the Year. You can send your nominations by 2 February here. Details on how to register for the awards ceremony can be found here.
