Compliance budgets on the up, but more is needed

A new survey of compliance officers has shown that companies are spending more on compliance efforts, but that resources to effectively protect companies from rapidly growing risks and “hyper-enforcement” are still lacking.The global compliance and ethics benchmarking survey, by SAI Global Compliance and Baker & McKenzie LLP, highlights that compliance is a growing priority for companies. The hundreds of compliance and ethics (C&E) professionals who responded confirmed that “evaluating the effectiveness of your company’s compliance programme is absolutely essential in the current hyper-enforcement environment,” as the report states.
