A better execution

Cooperation between human resources and legal is most needed when problems with high-level employees come into play. At LACCA Miami, Citibank’s Alejandra Flah urged in-house lawyers to work as closely as possible with HR – and the employee to be dismissed. For whatever reason they have to go – misconduct, underperformance, restructuring – sometimes senior company executives must be dislodged from their positions. And the more senior the executive, the harder the dismissal process. For example, the employee might have enough money to sue a company privately or be influential enough to create negative publicity with local news media or industrial organisations.
