Rodrigo Cardoze joined ARIFA in 2003 and became a partner in 2014. He is a member of the firm’s executive committee.
Mr Cardoze focuses mainly on corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, capital markets and banking transactions. An accomplished lawyer, Mr Cardoze is noted for regularly advising international clients on general corporate matters and cross-border transactions with parties in multiple jurisdictions, including the United States, Europe and Asia.
In the area of mergers and acquisitions, Mr Cardoze has acted as counsel in some of the largest transactions in the country and regularly advises clients in connection with stock purchase agreements, asset purchase agreements and merger agreements.
On the finance side, Mr Cardoze has been a leading lawyer advising clients on numerous types of financings in key cross-border and local transactions, including syndicated loan financings, locally registered equity and bond offerings, institutional placements of securities, and Regulation S and 144A offerings.
Mr Cardoze has a JD from Washington University School of Law and a BA from Duke University. He is admitted to practise in Florida and Panama.
He is director of Banco La Hipotecaria, a prominent mortgage originator in Panama, director of Assa Compañia de Seguros, SA, a leading insurance company in the region, and director of Fondo General de Inversiones. Mr Cardoze has also served as alternate director of the Panama Stock Exchange and alternate director of Central Latinoamericana de Valores, Panama’s clearing agency.
