LatAm firms in Deutsche Post DHL’s buy of ocean freight company

Multinational package delivery company Deutsche Post DHL Group has enlisted German firm Gleiss Lutz and Demarest Advogados in São Paulo to acquire sea freight company JF Hillebrand for 1.5 billion euros (US$1.7 billion), giving it assets in Latin America.

Colombia’s Ecopetrol buys majority stake in ISA

Colombia’s largest oil company Ecopetrol has hired Baker McKenzie LLP in Bogotá, Buenos Aires, Santiago and Lima and Trench Rossi Watanabe in São Paulo to acquire a majority stake in Interconexión Eléctrica (ISA) from the Colombian government in a deal worth 14.2 trillion pesos (US$3.7 billion).

Brazilian energy group Raízen has hired Stocche Forbes Advogados in São Paulo, BKM | Berkemeyer in Asunción and Mitrani, Caballero & Ruiz Moreno in Buenos Aires to buy a controlling stake in Paraguayan fuel retailer Barcos & Rodados for US$130 million, marking Dutch oil giant Shell’s return to Paraguay after more than 15 years.
