Telecomunicaciones de Puerto Rico Inc (Telpri) has entered into a US$50 million Term Credit Agreement to refinance existing debts. Telpri is the largest telecom operator in Puerto Rico and a subsidiary of Verizon, the US telecommunications company. Telpri's obligations under the Loan Agreement are guaranteed by Telpri's subsidiary, Puerto Rico Telephone Company Inc.

Plantar Group is negotiating Brazil’s first Emission Reductions Purchase Agreement with the World Bank, which is trustee of the Prototype Carbon Fund. The agreement will allow the Fund to buy part of the greenhouse gas emission reductions achieved under Plantar’s Carbon Offset project.
Peru’s Supreme Court has ruled that 16 soldiers accused of the summary execution of 14 guerillas during a hostage rescue mission in 1997 are to be tried by a military tribunal. The decision follows a debate that has been ongoing since June about whether the civil or military authorities had jurisdiction over the case.

Brazilian media company Globo, which is in the process of restructuring, has sold its controlling stake in satellite TV company Net Sat Serviços, reducing its share in the company from 54 per cent to 49.9 per cent. Globo has also recapitalised Net Serviços de Comunicação SA.
The Argentine branch of Canada’s Bank of Nova Scotia, Scotiabank Quilmes SA (SBQ), has transferred nearly all of its assets to a trust. This allows the assets to be liquidated in an orderly and efficient manner, for the benefit of SBQ’s creditors - under Article 35b, paragraph II, subparagraph (a) of the Argentine Financial Entities Law (Law No. 21,526).

Nufarm Americas Inc and Riverdale Chemical Company have acquired the controlling interests in agrochemical firms Agtrol International Argentina SA, Agtrol International (Mexico) SA de CV and Agtrol International SA (a French Société Anonyme) for an undisclosed amount.
