Tomás Fezas Vital Mesquita has had significant experience with anti-corruption and compliance matters since 2011. His practice involves the coordination of internal investigations related to violations of foreign and domestic anti-corruption laws, negotiation with local and foreign enforcement authorities, conducting compliance-related risk assessments, advising on the implementation and management of compliance programmes and internal policies and controls, developing training sessions for officers and members of boards of directors, and the coordination of due diligence processes. Tomás has advised numerous clients in anti-corruption and compliance matters, including highly complex investigations involving multiple jurisdictions and reporting to local and foreign authorities.
He was also a member of the first monitorship team led by a monitor appointed by the Brazilian Prosecutor’s Office (MPF) to assess enhancements in a compliance programme and internal controls implemented by a company involved in the Operation Car Wash. He holds a law degree (2013) from the Pontifical Catholic University of de São Paulo and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in corporate law at Fundação Getúlio Vargas (FGV-SP).
