Robert O’Leary is counsel in the project development and finance practice of Shearman & Sterling LLP. With a focus on Latin America, Robert regularly advises on a variety of domestic and international project development, limited recourse, corporate and acquisition financing transactions in the energy, infrastructure and natural resources sectors. Robert advises some of the key development banks active in the region, as well as large corporates, on their Latin American project and structured financing transactions. Robert’s practice has a diverse geographic reach across the region – from the Southern Cone to Mexico, including Argentina, Chile, Mexico, Guatemala, Panama, Nicaragua, the Dominican Republic and El Salvador – as well as a varied scope across the energy, infrastructure and mining industries. Recent notable transactions include advising the lenders on a US$120 million secured facility to refinance a 50MW wind farm project in the Dominican Republic, and representing the sponsors on a US$128 million limited recourse project financing for the acquisition, development, conversion and operation of a floating storage and regasification unit moored at the port of Acajutla, El Salvador.
