Luis Fernando Macías Gómez is a partner at PPU and is an expert in environment and sustainable development. He has more than 25 years of experience in environmental law, mainly in litigation and sanctioning processes, compliance and legal strategy. He advises important national companies and multinationals in complex environmental business and has been a consultant for many international organisations. He is also qualified as a lawyer in Ecuador, owing to the homologation of diplomas. The principal international directories rank him as a Tier 1 lawyer.
He has a PhD in political science from the University of Paris III (France) in co-guardianship with the Externado University of Colombia and, among others, has completed an interactive master’s degree in environmental law at the University of the Basque Country (Spain).
Luis Fernando has advised national and international arbitration tribunals as an expert. He was the First Chief of the Legal Office of the Ministry of Environment of Colombia and Secretary General in charge of the same entity. He has been a professor since 1987 at various universities in Colombia and a visiting professor at a number of universities abroad.
