Karla Lini Maeji is a partner in TozziniFreire’s compliance and investigation practice group, and has extensive experience in acting as counsel for foreign listed companies doing business in Brazil, focusing her practice on internal investigations, and regulatory and criminal enforcement. She has conducted numerous cross-border investigations especially on corruption, fraud and procurementirregularities reporting to audit committees, interacting with external auditors andhaving a keen eye for handling matters that may affect the company in differentareas of law and jurisdictions. She has consistent experience in strategicallyrepresenting clients before multiple authorities, both in the context of leniencyagreements and defence. Karla also regularly advises corporate clients on a broadrange of compliance matters for having a deep understanding of her clients’ businessand potential impacts on the company. In addition, she was seconded to aglobal law firm in London. Karla graduated from the Mackenzie PresbyterianUniversity and earned her LLM from the Columbia University School of Law.She is a visiting professor on the Compliance postgraduate course at FundaçãoGetúlio Vargas.
