Giovani Loss

Giovani Loss is a partner at Mattos Filho and concentrates his practice on oil and gas transactions. He has worked with Fulbright & Jaworski LLP in Houston for over three years, and was seconded as lead E&P counsel to BG for six months in 2009.Giovani is licensed to practise law in Brazil, New York and England (as a solicitor). He holds a master of laws degree from the University of São Paulo and an LLM degree from Stanford University.The author of a book on natural gas regulation, Giovani is listed as one of the leading oil and gas lawyers in Brazil by Chambers Global 2011, Chambers Latin America 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016, The Legal 500, PLC Which Lawyer?, as well as in Euromoney’s Guide to the World’s Leading Energy Lawyers. Giovani was the only Brazilian listed as one of the ‘top 10 most highly regarded oil and gas lawyers 2012 in the world’ by Who’s Who Legal, and, in 2018, Giovani was recognised as the ‘energy lawyer of the year’ by the same publication, the first and only Brazilian lawyer to ever receive such an honour.
