About the Author
Santiago Ricardo O’Conor was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Santiago is an attorney and graduate of the Faculty of Law of the State University of Buenos Aires, as well as a patent and trademark agent.
He has undertaken postgraduate study at Harvard Law School and the Fordham IP Institute of New York, and has been professor of international private law in Buenos Aires.
Santiago specialises in intellectual and industrial property fields, advising domestic and foreign companies on local and international IP law, prosecution and litigation in Argentina and throughout Latin America with more of 30 years of practice and experience.
He advises Forbes and Fortune 500 companies in a variety of industries, such as technology and telecommunications, fashion and luxury goods, agriculture, food and wine and entertainment.
His extensive career and background began in 1987 as an associate of Baker & McKenzie’s Buenos Aires office. He spent 25 years as partner and head of the international trademark practice at Argentina’s largest law firm and intellectual property office.
He is a very active participant in many international IP associations, such as the International Trademark Association (INTA), the Intellectual Property Owners Association (IPO), the Pharmaceutical Trademarks Group and the Interamerican Association of Intellectual Property (ASIPI). He is also a speaker at numerous seminars and conferences in Argentina and abroad.
Mr O’Conor is the managing partner of the Argentine IP firm O’Conor & Power – Abogados – Propiedad Industrial, located in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
