About the Author
Mr Felipe Mendoza has successfully challenged resolutions issued by the Tax Service Administration (IRS), Mexican Customs, Social Security Institute (IMSS), and Housing Fund Institute (INFONAVIT), and also challenging the constitutionality of tax laws enacted by the Federal and State Congresses.
Over the years, Mr Mendoza has provided legal advice to companies dealing with valuation, HTS Tariff Classification, Mexican tariff and non-tariff restrictions, determination and payment of import duties as consequence of the implementation of article 303 of NAFTA, and also regarding the compliance with rules of origin. He has ample experience conducting complex customs and international trade audits to Mexican companies, and has assisted several companies to draft and implement their foreign trade compliance procedures.
Mr Mendoza has also an extensive practice in business and corporate law, and has been counselling companies doing joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions throughout Mexico. He also has advised foreign companies to set up structures that provide tax benefits when doing business in Mexico.
He has been the speaker and panellist at various seminars organised by the Instituto Tecnologico de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey. He is a member of the Foreign Trade Committee of the National Institute of Public Accountants, located in México City. Also, he was a former chairman of the National Corporate Attorneys Association (ANADE), Chihuahua Section (2006–2008). Mr Mendoza is professor of Maquiladoras on the LLM programme of the Law School of the Autonomous University of Ciudad Juarez.
