Werner Federico Ahlers is a partner in Sullivan & Cromwell’s Mergers & Acquisitions, Corporate and Finance, and Project Development and Finance Groups. Werner’s practice includes a wide range of cross-border matters throughout Latin America, including private equity, corporate acquisitions and development and/or finance-related representations in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru. He has particular experience advising strategic and financial investors in power, energy, natural resources and infrastructure investments, as well as investments in other highly regulated industries, including telecommunications, healthcare and financial services.

Werner has been recognised for his work by Latin Lawyer, M&A Advisor, Chambers Global, Chambers Latin America and The Legal 500 Latin America and has also received recognition from The American Lawyer and Law360. He is a member of the committee of the Cyrus R. Vance Center for International Justice, a term member of the Council on Foreign Relations and former chair of the Inter-American Affairs Committee of the NYC Bar Association. He was born in Nicaragua, is a native Spanish speaker and is proficient in Portuguese.
