On Tuesday Mexican state-owned oil company Pemex awarded four service contracts to private companies in a bid to boost private participation in the country’s oil industry, but with auctions for the two offshore blocks declared void and large multinational oil companies failing to win any contracts, some observers have voiced concerns that the contracts remain too restrictive and question the extent to which oil production will increase in the country.
