After opening remarks from the event’s co-chairs, the conference will kick off with an enforcer’s roundtable discussing the dramatic changes to Latin America’s anti-corruption landscape over the past decade – taking a particular focus on Brazil. Representatives of the region’s leading authorities will analyse how enforcement and anti-corruption trends have evolved, while panellists will also evaluate counter-corruption strategies amid the shifting social and political climate of Latin America.
Following a short break for refreshments, a panel of defence attorneys will review the novel difficulties they have encountered as new laws continue to be rolled out across North and South America – taking a US and Brazilian focus. Delegates will offer insight on how to manage the expectations of regulators and clients in that evolving landscape. This talk is followed by a third panel, which will see experts from Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Mexico and Peru discuss the major enforcement developments in their countries, offering predictions and analysis.
A networking lunch, hosted by sponsor Ropes & Gray, will take place before the fourth panel of the day, where in-house and external advisers will address some of the most prominent concerns that weigh on the minds of compliance officers today. The talk will tackle some of the main challenges compliance advisers have experienced in 2022, such as adapting to hybrid working, modern-day risks for employers and how to mitigate them, whilst reflecting on how to use lessons learnt amid the pandemic to develop new strategies.
The event will end with a discussion on the role of technology in establishing effective compliance programmes, whilst also addressing the new challenges presented by innovative AI advances and how to prevent costly mistakes.
Following the co-chairs' closing remarks, attendees of the conference are invited to a drinks reception celebrating the event's 10th anniversary, sponsored by Debevoise & Plimpton and TozziniFreire.
