Free trade provides biggest winners in banana wars
Peeling bananas ceased to be political last month, when 20 years of legal disputes over tariffs on the curved, yellow fruit came to an end. As the European Union and 10 Latin American countries signed an agreement to put an end to the banana wars fought over preferential treatment meted out to former European colonies, relief among Latin American trade lawyers varies depending on the trading relationship their countries have with the EU.
