Against a backdrop of legislative changes and catastrophic environmental incidents in Brazil, Lefosse Advogados has strengthened its environmental offer by hiring a former Machado Meyer Advogados lawyer to lead the practice.

Guilherme d'Almeida Mota, 36, joined the firm on 1 August. He has a litigation background and has focused on environmental matters since 2009. He holds a master’s degree in environmental and energy law from George Washington University and worked on several high-stake cases while at Machado Meyer, including disputes arising from Samarco’s 2015 dam disaster.
