Canadian miner targets gold and silver mines in Guatemala and Peru

Borden Ladner Gervais LLP in Vancouver and Toronto, Mayora & Mayora SC (Guatemala) and Hernández & Cía Abogados in Lima have helped Canadian miner Pan American Silver buy national counterpart Tahoe Resources, including the troublesome Escobal silver mine in Guatemala for some US$1.1 billion.

Tahoe enlisted Cassels Brock & Blackwell LLP in Toronto, Consortium Legal (Guatemala) and Rodrigo, Elías & Medrano Abogados in Lima for the transaction. The parties signed the deal on 14 November and expect it to close in the first quarter of 2019.
