The US has accepted a Canadian proposal whereby investor-state dispute settlement (ISDS) will be removed from the new North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) as the basis of negotiation going forward, with the only recourse in the event of disputes to be non-binding state-to-state arbitration.
