A colleague from another firm asked me a very direct question: ‘how many black lawyers do you have in your firm?’ and I was taken aback,” says Santos da Silva, who is known to friends and colleagues as Cajé, on the defining moment that triggered the launch of Incluir Direito, a programme designed to get more black lawyers employed at corporate law firms. “But then he said to me: ‘It is not only you, we have the same problem in our firm.’ So we decided we needed to do something about it.”
