J&F Investimentos hires new firm and quickly resolves bribery allegations

Brazil's J&F Investimentos has signed a US$3.18 billion leniency agreement with Brazilian prosecutors, only hours after the company announced it had parted with its lawyers, Trench Rossi e Watanabe Advogados.

The company signed a leniency agreement with Brazil’s Federal Prosecution Service (MPF) worth 10.3 billion reais (US$3.18 billion) on 30 May. The settlement came only a day after a representative of the company told Latin Lawyer's sister publication GIR that negotiations with the MPF were deadlocked, after the agency made a settlement offer of 10.9 billion reais (US$3.46 billion) on 28 May.
