Alfredo Rodríguez is a partner at Consortium Legal Guatemala. His main areas of practice are banking and finance, tax law, M&A and corporate.
During his career, he has served as legal adviser for the Minister of Foreign Affairs in Guatemala; as counsel in charge of reviewing the CAFTA-US-Dominican Republic-Central America free trade agreement: as legal advisor for the Minister of Economy for the final negotiations of the free trade agreement between Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras and México; as faculty member Universidad Francisco Marroquín and Universidad Rafael Landívar in Guatemala; as member of the Committee of Agricultural, Commercial, Industrial and Financial Activities (CACIF) for the discussion and analysis of the modifications in the Alcoholic Beverages Tax in Guatemala.
He is a member of the Guatemala Bar Association, Asociación Tributaria Guatemalteca (ATG) (founding member), Instituto Guatemalteco de Derecho Notarial and the International Fiscal Association (IFA).
Mr Rodriguez attended Georgetown University, USA, where he received his master’s in law in 1982.
Mr Rodríguez has published many articles such as: “Taxes and Land”, study for the International Development Association (IDA) and “Value Added Tax Harmonization in Central America”, study for the Secretariat for the Central American Economic Integration (SIECA).
