Jaime Cortés Alvarez has over 20 years of experience in securities transactions, structured finance, mergers and acquisitions, private equity, restructurings and general corporate and commercial matters. His experience includes participation in complex cross-border and international transactions including securitisation of a variety of financial assets, counsel in numerous domestic and international offerings of equity and debt securities, as well as advising buyers, sellers, agents, and private equity investors in mergers and acquisitions of public and private companies, and joint ventures. He is also secretary of the board of directors of various public and private companies.

Mr Cortés obtained his law degree from the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico (UNAM) and a master of laws degree from Columbia Law School. He was foreign associate at Davis Polk & Wardwell and Brown & Wood (currently Sidley Austin LLP) in New York City (1998–1999). He is member of the Mexican Bar Association and the Mexican Mediation Institute.
