Chile’s cartel conundrum

The history of competition enforcement in Chile is one defined by change, and a desire to elevate the country’s legal framework to the same standard as international counterparts. Cartels, however, remain a thorn in Chile’s side. Chile’s government is poised to re-enact criminal sanctions as part of a broader set of competition law amendments, but must convince parliament in the face of vocal opposition from Chile’s antitrust lawyers and scepticism even from the FNE.
