Virgilio is a partner and co-head of the infrastructure and energy practices team at Machado, Meyer, Sendacz e Opice Advogados law firm in Brazil. For the last 20 years, he has focused on project finance, PPPs and M&A for regulated industries. Regularly appointed as the leading, most recommended or band 1 attorney in these areas in Brazil, he has also had relevant experience working in New York (Dewey Ballantine, LLP: 2000 and 2001), where he was admitted to practise in 2000 (NY bar) following his LLM at the University of Virginia (1999). Back in Brazil, Virgilio also obtained a master’s degree in corporate law (University of São Paulo) and authored dozens of books and articles on his areas of expertise, including Project Finance: Financiamento com Foco em Empreendimentos (São Paulo: Saraiva, 2007), a reference title on the subject in Brazil. Virgilio is president of the IBRADEMP institute.
